Review Of ORCA Desktop – Experience Vista…

Web is evolving tremendously and as we head towards Web 2.0 or Web 3.0, we are getting various services which simply amaze us everyday. We’ve all heard of WebOS’s, in case you are not sure what WEB OS is then let me tell you that it is a concept where developers are trying to bring the whole desktop on the web and which will allow users to do all those works on the web, which they do it on their regular or local desktop.

Today, we’ll have a look at one of the WebOs’s available on the internet. It is ORCA DESKTOP. ORCA DESKTOP is a privately funded webbased application and it is one of the most impressive WebOS till this time. It is currently in BETA stage and the programmers are planning to release the final version by the end of december.

ORCA Desktop allows users to test the service using a demo account and whose username and password is “demo” (sans quotes). It gives the option of using the various skins like Windows Vista, MAC OS X, and one strange option which says Google, however currently, it only works on Windows Vista skin.

The interface is designed in very proffessional manner and gives the exact look and feel of Windows Vista. So, all you people out there who are dying to get a feel of Windows Vista then go ahead and use the demo account and enjoy the cool interface!

It has got various flash based games in it to keep you entertained and for those productive users you can use various office applications and not just that but a skinnable email client as well. It has got RSS Feedreader and lets users browse the internet using the internet explorer with the looks of IE 7!

All in all, it is a very good and neatly designed WebOS and I am sure people will love it. However, with all good packages there are some negatives as well and over here as this is currently in BETA it only supports MS IE 6 and fails to support other browsers. Also, I personally failed to signup for the service and experienced problems in the signup process but that may be due to technical difficulty only. Anyway, you can still test the account using the demo username & password and enjoy this great web application.
